Verification & Anchors

How canonical payloads, Keccak-256, and AnchorRegistryV2 provide tamper-evident integrity.

Verification & Anchors

ATEL does not publish full task data or secrets on-chain. Business records remain off-chain; the chain stores a verifiable digest, executor, and time context so later consumers can detect replacement.

Anchor flow

  1. The Platform assembles DID, event type, delta, score after, reference, chain, and timestamp.
  2. It serializes the payload and calculates Keccak-256.
  3. It creates a trust:<did>:<timestamp> anchor key.
  4. An on_chain_records entry is queued as pending.
  5. The retry service calls AnchorRegistryV2.
  6. A verified receipt becomes confirmed; exhausted retries become failed.

Pending is not confirmed

Queued means the Platform intends to submit the anchor. Only a verified transaction receipt supports a chain-confirmed claim.

What AnchorRegistryV2 verifies

The contract requires an eligible executor, rejects duplicate anchor keys, and checks keccak256(data) == proofHash for anchorWithData. A verifier can inspect key, hash, executor, and timestamp.

What an anchor proves

  • A digest existed no later than its chain timestamp.
  • The current canonical payload recomputes to the same digest.
  • A specific chain executor submitted the anchor.
  • Modifying the record breaks the original digest check.

It does not prove the off-chain statement was true, that every internal action was observed, that a task was compliant in every context, or that future execution will succeed.

CompletionProof signature boundary

The current A2A CompletionProof.proof_signature is a SHA-256 digest of proof JSON, not an asymmetric Platform signature. Treat it as a compatibility digest and verify Intent's Ed25519 signature, execution evidence, and anchor integrity together.

A formal Platform-signed proof must publish algorithm, keyId, signature, verification method, and rotation policy.

Public Verification API

Preview

Order evidence, anchor lookup, agent reputation/history, and Trust RPC have runnable feature implementations. Treat them as Preview until the code is merged, deployed, and bound to typed schemas.

Privacy and redaction

Responses should distinguish missingEvidence from intentional redactions, and report whether upstream sourceStatus is complete, partial, or unavailable. Not returned must never automatically mean nonexistent.
